Grace to Help in Time of Need

MESSAGE SUMMARY

In the final service of the revival weekend, special guest Jody Cagle picks up where Friday (faith) and Saturday (peace) left off in 2 Peter 1:2: "grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord." With the whole message given to grace, he offers a working definition: God will treat you as though you have no fault. He then opens three of the word's many meanings.

First, grace is strength. When Paul asked three times for the "messenger of Satan" to be removed, the Lord did not remove it but answered, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). God's strength is more than enough for whatever comes against you, and "taking pleasure" in hardship means keeping your mind stayed on the Lord in the middle of it.

Second, grace is power. The same anointing of Holy Ghost power that rested on Jesus (Acts 10:38) is promised to believers (Acts 1:8). We are to be continually filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18-20). God's part is to fill; our part is to open up and yield, because the Holy Spirit is a gentleman who will not force His way in. Humbling ourselves, resisting the devil and drawing near to God (James 4:6-8) all go together, since the Greater One lives within.

Third, grace is favor. God gives grace to the humble and exalts them in due time (1 Peter 5:5-7). A thankful people are a blessed people.

He closes with Hebrews 4:16: come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. The word "help" pictures frapping a ship, when a rope from the dock pulls a storm-tossed vessel in and ties it fast to safety. Two women received Jesus at the altar, and the congregation joined in a prayer releasing forgiveness and receiving inner healing, so the flow of the Spirit is no longer capped.

MESSAGE SUMMARY

On the second night of the revival weekend, special guest Jody Cagle preached on peace from 2 Peter 1:2: grace and peace are multiplied to us through the knowledge of God and of Jesus. The more we know Him, the more His peace multiplies in our lives. Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), and the word peace carries the ideas of an end to conflict, rebuilding after the war, distractions removed, inner stability, and a wholeness that is unaffected by outward circumstances.

In John 14:27 Jesus both left His peace with us and gave it to us, but like keys left on a pew, it has to be picked up. Because He has overcome the world, we can be of good cheer (John 16:33). God has given us a sound mind, so the battle is won by taking every thought captive and replacing it with the Word; the mouth is more powerful than the mind, and saying "praise God" stops a wrong thought in its tracks. Romans 12:2 calls this a renovation to a fundamentally better way of thinking.

Using a water bottle, he showed that a believer already has peace inside. It stops flowing when we cap it with worry, fear and doubt: "Don't cap your peace." Isaiah 26:3 promises perfect peace to the one whose mind is stayed on the Lord, leaning our full weight on Him in trust, as Jesus did when He spoke "Peace, be still" in the storm. Peace acts as an umpire (Colossians 3:15), calling us safe or out as the Holy Spirit leads. At the cross the chastisement of our peace was on Jesus, securing shalom, nothing missing and nothing broken, so we should not let the devil or other people steal it. The woman with the issue of blood was healed and then told to go into peace.

The service closed with an invitation to salvation and a time of ministry, with prayer for healing of lungs, backs and ankles, and prophetic encouragement.

Faith That Endures

MESSAGE SUMMARY

Special guest Jody Cagle opened his revival weekend at Mercy of God Ministries by taking the church "from the bottom to the top" on the subject of faith. Starting in Hebrews 11 (Amplified Classic), he described faith as the title deed to what God has promised: it belongs to the believer, and no one else can take possession of it. Faith comes by hearing the anointed Word, and like hair and fingernails it grows on the inside even when you can't feel it, building an image of what God has said.

Because faith is God's language and fear is the devil's language, prayers prayed in fear don't line up with how God answers. Using Jesus' mustard-seed picture, he taught that faith can't be mixed with doubt, fear or complaining; talking faith one minute and doubt the next cancels it out. The enemy's first move is to steal the Word through deception, so believers must walk together with God by faith, speak what is on the inside (2 Corinthians 4:13), and talk to the mountain rather than about it (Mark 11:23).

The heart of the message came from James 1: make a predetermined decision to count it all joy, because trials come to test whether your faith is real, and pushing back releases a divine endurance that carries you to maturity with nothing lacking. The one who digs in his heels and refuses to quit receives the crown of life. Daniel in the lions' den and Jesus' 33 years of faithfulness, through the wilderness, Gethsemane and the cross to the resurrection, showed that the same power now lives in every believer.

The evening closed with an invitation to salvation and an extended time of ministry: prayer for healing of knees, hips and joints, a word of encouragement over the pastors, and a reminder that healing is the children's bread, already provided and received by faith, even when the manifestation comes gradually.

The Precious Promises of Peter — Part 6

MESSAGE SUMMARY

In Part 6 of the Precious Promises of Peter series, Pastor Brian Charles continues his study of the shed blood of Jesus from 1 Peter 1:18-20: we were redeemed "not with corruptible things, as silver and gold," but with the precious blood of Christ, a Lamb foreordained before the foundation of the world. Calvary was never God's emergency plan. God reconciles us to Himself and then restores us, spirit, soul and body.

Picking up from last week, he recaps Gethsemane (Hebrew for "oil press"), where Jesus' blood was shed for the restoration of our soul, mind, will and emotions, and the crown of thorns, which broke the curse of Genesis 3 and made us kings and priests. He then walks through three more places the blood was shed. Carrying the cross up the Via Dolorosa, Jesus bore our sin so we could carry His name, and taking up our own cross means surrendering our will to God's and dying to the rule of the flesh (Matthew 16:24; Romans 8:13; Galatians 2:20). The nails in His hands and feet paid for everything our hands had done and every wayward path we had walked, so that whatever we now put our hands to is blessed and the devil has only our past, never our future. The spear in His side brought forth blood and water, fulfilling prophecy and birthing the church. Pastor Brian stresses that Jesus laid His life down freely, that no sin is beyond His forgiveness, and that forgiving others releases salvation, as seen in the centurion, the thief on the cross, and Saul after Stephen's prayer.

He closes with 1 John 5: wherever the blood is preached according to the Word, the Holy Spirit bears witness. Every person must be born again, and we are made the righteousness of God in Christ alone. He encourages believers to plead the blood over their homes and families, to live by faith rather than feelings, and invites anyone watching to come home to Jesus, because the blood has never lost its power.

Holy Spirit Revival & Restoration

MESSAGE SUMMARY

Apostle Phillip Samlalsingh, visiting from Trinidad and Tobago, opens not with a sermon but with a declaration — that the anointing was released before the service formally began, and that no one present will leave the way they came in. He takes time to publicly endorse Pastor Brian Charles as a shepherd God has mantled, telling the congregation that an outside voice confirming what they already know should send them away rejoicing.

The teaching is framed as "what is next on God's agenda." He announces three points and a poem, then, conscious of the time, gets through only the first: revival. Anchoring in Psalm 85:6 — "Wilt thou not revive us again, that thy people may rejoice in thee" — he presses that rejoicing is impossible without revival, and that too many in the church are spiritually flat while going through the motions.

He then defines revival against its counterfeits. It is not emotional excitement, and it is not a thousand people filling a building. Working from the Hebrew chayah and the Greek anazao — to live, to make alive, to restore, to quicken — he argues revival is God breathing life into His people again, the same breath that entered Adam's nostrils and turned formed clay into a living man. "Revival is not a meeting. Revival is a resurrection."

He locates the mechanism in the Holy Spirit, taking Paul's question at Ephesus — "Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed?" — and tracing the pattern through Luke and Acts, where the Spirit came as hands were laid on believers who had already believed. The service closes doing exactly that: laying on of hands, prophetic words over individuals, and prayer for healing.
